Wallpaper porn & other fabulous things Scandinavians are good at

I am loving Scandinavian design right now. I came across online store Huset shop recently – “your house for modern Scandinavian living”.  It has so much truly awesome stuff I don’t even know where to start.  So just go there.  I suggest you start small – with the kids section – and then go as far as your credit card will take you.

A few days before that discovery, I stumbled across this other piece of Scandinavian fabulousness (while reading some high brow fashion magazine that I can now no longer recall);  Scandinavian designed wallpaper from a company called Scandinavian Design Center.  I love the patterns.  They are works of art.  As far as I am qualified to identify what is art.  Which is not at all.  But take it from me, it’s a delight for the eyes.  Not even sore eyes.  Just eyes in general.    I could stare at the wallpaper and fabrics all day and, seeing as the article was only 5 pages long, I had to take my addiction to their web page where I was delighted to browse pages and pages of wallpaper and fabric designs which I stared at for many, many minutes and at least two cups of tea.  I should have been doing other things and not coveting that which I can not pay for or find a place

for in current rented apartment.  Thus much like some like to drool over naked ladies that they should not be considering paying for, in my spare time I drool over Scandinavian wallpaper and fabric designs.  I invite you to go ahead and drool yourselves (or indeed yourself, if my mother is still the only person reading my posts).

If it’s not wallpaper but other homeware goodies that press your buttons, there are LOTS of other cleverly and beautiful designed homewears and not-quite-essential but you-will-die-for-wanting things on the site.

I wasn’t even thinking about nursery design (because as you all know, or, ok, just maybe you recall, Mum, I have already written about wall stickers not once but twice, so I might be overdoing it a bit on the wall decoration topic) but I discovered there are loads of wallpaper designs that would make any nursery or kids room look absolutely awesome.  Check out Kaspar which is a wallpaper design with illustrations in black and White.  Black and White! So how’s this for a way to turn that potentially boring sounding design around! (am genius for thinking of this you will surely agree) -  potentially, you could arm your children with crayons and let their creative urges free.  I’m not sure if this is what the designer had in mind but it seems like a lot of fun to me.

Of course there’s the potential problem of the kids not understanding that colouring the walls is only ok in that particular room.  Also there’s the danger they’ll lose interest after a day which would result in either a lot of tedious work for you or a rather incomplete looking decoration piece.

Worth bearing in mind too that if you have any perfectionist tendencies this project may not be for you.  Starting a project in which you might end up yelling BUT YOU HAVE TO COLOUR INSIDE THE LINES to your startled children might not be the best bonding experience for your family.  If, on the other hand, you’re a little wild at heart and want to let your kids go red-cordialish with their largest ever drawing project, I think this is a top approach.  And when they get older and a little tired of the wallpaper, you have the perfect excuse to buy more.

Get shopping, or just drooling:
